Cela faisait d\u00e9j\u00e0 cinq ans que Claire venait chaque semaine entretenir la tombe de son mari, d\u00e9c\u00e9d\u00e9 subitement dans un accident de voiture. Ce petit coin tranquille au fond du cimeti\u00e8re \u00e9tait devenu pour elle un lieu de recueillement, de souvenirs et parfois m\u00eame de conversations silencieuses avec l\u2019homme qu\u2019elle avait tant aim\u00e9. Elle y venait avec des fleurs fra\u00eeches, nettoyait les feuilles mortes, remettait les galets en ordre \u2014 un rituel simple mais profond\u00e9ment intime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mais ce matin-l\u00e0, quelque chose \u00e9tait diff\u00e9rent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alors qu\u2019elle brossait la pierre tombale, Claire remarqua une irr\u00e9gularit\u00e9 dans le sol juste \u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 de la st\u00e8le. Curieuse, elle s\u2019approcha et vit ce qui ressemblait \u00e0 une ouverture, une sorte de petit trou sombre dans la terre. Au d\u00e9but, elle pensa que c\u2019\u00e9tait peut-\u00eatre un terrier d\u2019animal ou un affaissement naturel du terrain. Mais quelque chose en elle lui disait de regarder de plus pr\u00e8s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elle se pencha, \u00e9carta quelques feuilles, gratta un peu la terre… Et ce qu\u2019elle d\u00e9couvrit lui coupa litt\u00e9ralement le souffle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sous la surface, il y avait une cavit\u00e9, creus\u00e9e avec pr\u00e9cision. Elle aper\u00e7ut des objets m\u00e9talliques, une vieille bo\u00eete rouill\u00e9e, et… un morceau de tissu, d\u00e9lav\u00e9 par le temps. Son c\u0153ur se mit \u00e0 battre plus vite. Elle ne savait pas si elle devait fuir, appeler quelqu\u2019un, ou continuer \u00e0 creuser. Finalement, pouss\u00e9e par une \u00e9trange force, elle agrandit doucement l\u2019ouverture avec ses mains tremblantes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ce qu\u2019elle trouva semblait tout droit sorti d\u2019un film.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dans la cachette souterraine se trouvait une bo\u00eete \u00e0 souvenirs, soigneusement envelopp\u00e9e dans une toile. \u00c0 l\u2019int\u00e9rieur : des lettres jaunies, une photo d\u2019elle et de son mari \u2014 mais qu\u2019elle n\u2019avait jamais vue auparavant \u2014, et un petit carnet. Sur la premi\u00e8re page, une simple phrase, \u00e9crite de la main de son mari : \u00ab Si tu trouves ceci, c\u2019est que tu es pr\u00eate \u00e0 conna\u00eetre toute la v\u00e9rit\u00e9. \u00bb<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Claire sentit un frisson lui parcourir l\u2019\u00e9chine. Elle n\u2019avait jamais soup\u00e7onn\u00e9 que son mari, si discret, si calme, avait pu cacher quelque chose d\u2019aussi myst\u00e9rieux… ou d\u2019aussi personnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ce jour-l\u00e0, au lieu de repartir avec un vase vide, elle repartit avec des r\u00e9ponses.
