Byl chladn\u00fd podzimn\u00ed ve\u010der, kdy se star\u00fd lesn\u00edk Jind\u0159ich vracel dom\u016f z lesa. Slunce u\u017e zapadalo a les se no\u0159il do \u0161era. Najednou zaslechl slab\u00e9, zoufal\u00e9 k\u0148u\u010den\u00ed, kter\u00e9 se oz\u00fdvalo z hou\u0161t\u00ed pobl\u00ed\u017e stezky. Zastavil se, ztichl, a pomalu zam\u00ed\u0159il za zvukem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mezi spadan\u00fdm list\u00edm a pol\u00e1man\u00fdmi v\u011btvemi objevil mal\u00e9 vl\u010de, cel\u00e9 \u0161pinav\u00e9 a vyd\u011b\u0161en\u00e9. Vedle n\u011bj le\u017eela jeho matka, velk\u00e1 \u0161ed\u00e1 vl\u010dice, z\u0159ejm\u011b zran\u011bn\u00e1 \u2013 kulhala a sotva d\u00fdchala. Jind\u0159ich nebyl mu\u017e, kter\u00fd by se zv\u00ed\u0159at b\u00e1l. M\u00edsto toho c\u00edtil soucit. Opatrn\u011b p\u0159istoupil, sundal si kab\u00e1t a pomohl vl\u010dici i ml\u00e1d\u011bti do star\u00e9ho p\u0159\u00edst\u0159e\u0161ku pobl\u00ed\u017e sv\u00e9 chaty. P\u0159inesl vodu, obv\u00e1zal r\u00e1ny a nechal je v teple p\u0159es noc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dal\u0161\u00ed den brzy r\u00e1no se Jind\u0159ich probudil, aby se ujistil, \u017ee zv\u00ed\u0159ata p\u0159e\u017eila. P\u0159ekvapilo ho, \u017ee p\u0159\u00edst\u0159e\u0161ek byl pr\u00e1zdn\u00fd. Vlci zmizeli. Jen otisky tlap v bl\u00e1t\u011b a p\u00e1r chlup\u016f dokazovaly, \u017ee tam opravdu byli. Jind\u0159ich pokr\u010dil rameny, usm\u00e1l se a vyrazil do vesnice, kde m\u011bl nakoupit z\u00e1soby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jakmile v\u0161ak dorazil do vsi, n\u011bco bylo \u0161patn\u011b. V\u0161ichni obyvatel\u00e9 st\u00e1li ml\u010dky uprost\u0159ed n\u00e1m\u011bst\u00ed, tv\u00e1\u0159e bled\u00e9, o\u010di vyt\u0159e\u0161t\u011bn\u00e9. U kostela le\u017eel roztrhan\u00fd plot a vedle n\u011bj hlubok\u00e9 \u0161kr\u00e1bance na d\u0159ev\u011bn\u00fdch dve\u0159\u00edch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201eCo se tady stalo?\u201c zeptal se Jind\u0159ich.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jind\u0159ich uc\u00edtil mr\u00e1z na z\u00e1dech. Ruce se mu lehce zachv\u011bly. Ne\u0159ekl nic. Jen se zad\u00edval do lesa na obzoru, kde se v d\u00e1lce zaleskly dv\u011b \u017elut\u00e9 o\u010di.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Od toho dne u\u017e \u017e\u00e1dn\u00fd pred\u00e1tor nevkro\u010dil do vesnice. Ale ka\u017ed\u00fd, kdo se pokusil ubl\u00ed\u017eit lesu \u2013 a\u0165 u\u017e k\u00e1cel stromy, nebo st\u0159\u00edlel zv\u011b\u0159 \u2013 zmizel beze stopy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
