Rex, un berger allemand exp\u00e9riment\u00e9, \u00e9tait sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9 dans la d\u00e9tection d\u2019explosifs. Il travaillait depuis des ann\u00e9es avec l\u2019agent Claire Morin, une femme calme et m\u00e9thodique, qui connaissait son chien mieux que quiconque.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alors qu\u2019ils passaient pr\u00e8s de la consigne automatique, Rex s\u2019arr\u00eata net. Il redressa les oreilles, grogna l\u00e9g\u00e8rement, puis partit brusquement en direction d\u2019une vieille valise beige pos\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9cart, sans \u00e9tiquette, presque invisible parmi le reste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2014 Rex ? Qu\u2019est-ce qu\u2019il y a, mon grand ? murmura Claire, d\u00e9j\u00e0 sur ses gardes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le chien s\u2019assit juste devant la valise, haletant, les yeux fix\u00e9s sur elle sans bouger. Ce comportement, Claire ne l\u2019avait encore jamais vu. Ce n\u2019\u00e9tait pas la r\u00e9action typique face \u00e0 une bombe ou \u00e0 de la drogue. C\u2019\u00e9tait\u2026 autre chose. Une tension diff\u00e9rente. Une urgence silencieuse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L\u2019alerte fut imm\u00e9diatement donn\u00e9e. La zone fut \u00e9vacu\u00e9e. Les d\u00e9mineurs arriv\u00e8rent, en combinaison, pr\u00eats \u00e0 tout. Lentement, avec mille pr\u00e9cautions, ils ouvrirent la valise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Et alors, le silence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ce que l\u2019on d\u00e9couvrit \u00e0 l\u2019int\u00e9rieur n\u2019avait rien d\u2019un explosif. C\u2019\u00e9tait un b\u00e9b\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Un nourrisson, \u00e0 peine n\u00e9, emmaillot\u00e9 dans une couverture, les joues rouges de froid, mais vivant. Tr\u00e8s faible, mais vivant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Un des policiers tomba \u00e0 genoux. Un autre d\u00e9tourna le regard, les yeux mouill\u00e9s. Claire, elle, posa la main sur la t\u00eate de Rex, qui, lui, fixait l\u2019enfant sans un bruit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2014 C\u2019est lui qui l\u2019a senti\u2026 souffla-t-elle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le b\u00e9b\u00e9 fut imm\u00e9diatement transport\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019h\u00f4pital. Les m\u00e9decins dirent plus tard que sans l\u2019intervention rapide, il n\u2019aurait pas surv\u00e9cu \u00e0 l\u2019heure suivante. Il avait \u00e9t\u00e9 abandonn\u00e9 l\u00e0, sans mot, sans nom, sans avenir. Mais il avait \u00e9t\u00e9 trouv\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Et sauv\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Aujourd\u2019hui, l\u2019enfant s\u2019appelle Gabriel. Il vit dans une famille aimante, adoptive, mais fi\u00e8re. Dans son histoire, on raconte souvent qu\u2019il a \u00e9t\u00e9 sauv\u00e9 par un chien. Ce n\u2019est pas une l\u00e9gende. C\u2019est la v\u00e9rit\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rex a pris sa retraite un an plus tard. Il vit d\u00e9sormais chez Claire, dans un jardin calme, loin du tumulte des gares.
